He's a artist that uses a lot of color and architecture in his artwork. Personally, I'm not a big fan. His work seems like a really good child drew it, but a lot of my classmates like him so thats just my opinion. I wasn't really excited for it but I started the project anyways. I used a design that I really liked of monster trees and a road and a roadkill bunny and a house...but I messed up with the prisma colors.<div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtXI-eEysYHHSgifndUuHRAs_mBJgn-zwqU_jPxthPo8Pt1ZFWVpWmF36Eglp58bIQg77uxZDYzsj5_7h2C7uxgFW2On2ZRkQHxsL6rT9iyho2D7UPpd-faOp1-ToVn2_-wQSucMSdPLM/s640/blogger-image--888496786.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtXI-eEysYHHSgifndUuHRAs_mBJgn-zwqU_jPxthPo8Pt1ZFWVpWmF36Eglp58bIQg77uxZDYzsj5_7h2C7uxgFW2On2ZRkQHxsL6rT9iyho2D7UPpd-faOp1-ToVn2_-wQSucMSdPLM/s640/blogger-image--888496786.jpg"></a></div>I just was not happy with it. It's the end of the quarter so I needed another project. I was thinking of the mushroom guy from Mario so I made a cute little mushroom house</div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyFDDZFOtyD4HYUE3ixFP0xpxAnp-kdDDmj61Q4Wr59QjUhAZM9pfHRto8JonpGT7vElmJDm4s4NG9X2-V-0iWEQ-llsffx0dmx6Bu1RIlx51SsHDj0t1hT1NtmCc-Hhb8NsQwqQiUs10/s640/blogger-image-1390594874.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyFDDZFOtyD4HYUE3ixFP0xpxAnp-kdDDmj61Q4Wr59QjUhAZM9pfHRto8JonpGT7vElmJDm4s4NG9X2-V-0iWEQ-llsffx0dmx6Bu1RIlx51SsHDj0t1hT1NtmCc-Hhb8NsQwqQiUs10/s640/blogger-image-1390594874.jpg"></a></div>I used markers for the patterns and watercolor for the rest of the coloring. Only after I made it did my teacher point out that a person could think of something else when looking at this...oopsie...but I still really like the colors though.</div>KateBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10948163693845275345noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3519124674691433058.post-69601165155773772812014-03-20T05:47:00.001-07:002014-04-08T05:46:23.000-07:00Project 15: self portraitOne of our assignments is to do an expressive self-portrait so after I completed my portrait of my goddaughter I decided to do one of myself. I started by taking a selfie but I didn't like my hair in the picture...<br />
<div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitaF6rwoLKnWWO2GCUy1c8_ho8K0kEKF6ZppnGEzOZup15du9u8YX0DEHcdvG-UFtO4bIPpy1ZGVFTGqU-6Y9lvyNuZuZ0A15qaQta8ZMj5P-RZ68qrHts_ec85qlLA9lSWL6Lkimyh8A/s640/blogger-image--841949287.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitaF6rwoLKnWWO2GCUy1c8_ho8K0kEKF6ZppnGEzOZup15du9u8YX0DEHcdvG-UFtO4bIPpy1ZGVFTGqU-6Y9lvyNuZuZ0A15qaQta8ZMj5P-RZ68qrHts_ec85qlLA9lSWL6Lkimyh8A/s640/blogger-image--841949287.jpg" /></a></div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
so I used the hair from another picture that I had of myslef.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0y0uO2fYU5lojSajE8ptnPYvjvKfZ0tduli1kUf4OcL-wlcshY1aB6SPGsWFei-dao8pVHRTpGM_n2eaMlzBWz7bF5Nz1cJ6fyzgjLl7BrD7tyI7X9W6YHUhwCFoELNEWJJXD8wUxv9s/s640/blogger-image--1200135010.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0y0uO2fYU5lojSajE8ptnPYvjvKfZ0tduli1kUf4OcL-wlcshY1aB6SPGsWFei-dao8pVHRTpGM_n2eaMlzBWz7bF5Nz1cJ6fyzgjLl7BrD7tyI7X9W6YHUhwCFoELNEWJJXD8wUxv9s/s640/blogger-image--1200135010.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I then free-handed the picture and layered my colors and ended up with this:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjt6IwINqpX8az9G6L58R_JML31EkUNzPP8Wh5gRowWV3-AIdKUWJyTg0TylsWtEcoFumeIJdXYqhOXy_UtEMaU2YYkqUPCbqbuHlqtESo3KiY02mzzAxF1RH_z4xq-ysAKmPJt2KQs7-4/s640/blogger-image--2033378682.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjt6IwINqpX8az9G6L58R_JML31EkUNzPP8Wh5gRowWV3-AIdKUWJyTg0TylsWtEcoFumeIJdXYqhOXy_UtEMaU2YYkqUPCbqbuHlqtESo3KiY02mzzAxF1RH_z4xq-ysAKmPJt2KQs7-4/s640/blogger-image--2033378682.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
(this is a strangle angle to take the picture at, I swear the head isn't this misshapen in the real one)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRSp20XLo3PzK-9D42cnqe8nkzsiEkkUrfyj0ulo1svdoPbvCO47vWDbllhGYWhY04RGBGnMqWEYf0rE55t33t79RWsKcwkVIndAd_GYES_inPsiQK9QixAGUcNsIBnUN7xXc_hz4gRa8/s640/blogger-image-788043220.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRSp20XLo3PzK-9D42cnqe8nkzsiEkkUrfyj0ulo1svdoPbvCO47vWDbllhGYWhY04RGBGnMqWEYf0rE55t33t79RWsKcwkVIndAd_GYES_inPsiQK9QixAGUcNsIBnUN7xXc_hz4gRa8/s640/blogger-image-788043220.jpg" /></a></div>
(why can't I turn this, I don't know..why can't I, Blogger????)<br />
Another reason I really wanted to do a self portrait is that I'm constantly reminded on how well (or not-so-well) I did in Art one. I'm reminded because one of my teachers put my old self portrait on the art room wall...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3igANgu_gxT93PsH0xvaUCpC1JEWAQsSnvytbdi8LOCqIDyfInkp9-G9NO44SInF10iyO_1IjBexDlBfVewywOSCYT-baN1kjuo0ID4lDohXhokzAGKuEkN8qMIPtBiWA2WWPthafOak/s640/blogger-image--168062442.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3igANgu_gxT93PsH0xvaUCpC1JEWAQsSnvytbdi8LOCqIDyfInkp9-G9NO44SInF10iyO_1IjBexDlBfVewywOSCYT-baN1kjuo0ID4lDohXhokzAGKuEkN8qMIPtBiWA2WWPthafOak/s640/blogger-image--168062442.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Wow I was really bad. But art is a skill that you can develop over time and you can't let your current art skill deter you from getting better. I'm often inspired by other peoples art, but not necessarily in the way where I try to do the same style of the artist, but rather aim to improve my own art skill so I can be at their level. Anyone can be a artist if they want it bad enough and stick with it. Want proof? Here's a 3 1/2 year difference in my art skill:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8d0AvN6T6qZtELu9koNqE6OHNv6oKSKofUB6reGUADv_lBSkv5wFIk9JUa5OLFMvUac10VqEqSJawDnW2Xq9qVmeY4-OssNE4CH5SAw8p2AM2GZMySLspbVJXl5998PFS0ai7_ZDDnjg/s640/blogger-image-44943286.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8d0AvN6T6qZtELu9koNqE6OHNv6oKSKofUB6reGUADv_lBSkv5wFIk9JUa5OLFMvUac10VqEqSJawDnW2Xq9qVmeY4-OssNE4CH5SAw8p2AM2GZMySLspbVJXl5998PFS0ai7_ZDDnjg/s640/blogger-image-44943286.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRm89YvTWRhVwGPmeMKBvtI2uZxzvZEPBGY9yNmIFxHXZNhz79Tc8yIXVJjNJpy2lATHoeltkTFzh8WxDjDL1GFAyRURMtaSErmoszEUtxC16mW5u63nCq2g57odtS04YOfIkoLMVkhzw/s640/blogger-image--1473165621.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRm89YvTWRhVwGPmeMKBvtI2uZxzvZEPBGY9yNmIFxHXZNhz79Tc8yIXVJjNJpy2lATHoeltkTFzh8WxDjDL1GFAyRURMtaSErmoszEUtxC16mW5u63nCq2g57odtS04YOfIkoLMVkhzw/s640/blogger-image--1473165621.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
And I'm still getting better. I'm really pleased with the end result of this project, my art is still not quite where I would like it to be, but i look forward to doing a self portrait in another 3 years and seeing how much better I am.KateBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10948163693845275345noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3519124674691433058.post-22203087123043407752014-03-20T05:34:00.001-07:002014-04-08T05:34:17.663-07:00Project 14: VivianFor my next project I wanted to do a portrait of my goddaughter Vivian. I had started on a portrait of her younger sister who is also my goddaughter, Rosalie, and wanted to draw Vivian too. A classmate of mine is really good at portraits and, honestly, I want to try and get as good as she is at it. But my first attempt...not so successful.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Yea...not good. Skin color is hard but I was determined to get it right. I started with pinks and purples and added yellow and brown before any skin tone prismas. I started to practice her eye and using colors to add depth to the skin...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMVqLiElUI3P5zyaLTAmo4MTBIyN1jdB3nAUHSc_baloV3pY4QNCkZfDlN92cIdvk_437iwHVMWyorKlPoQFzQ4Pf3UuMqBV2y0oojEdKYrwakws2vevsA7AFkpcngdCXArYekBmPBgbs/s640/blogger-image-944442270.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMVqLiElUI3P5zyaLTAmo4MTBIyN1jdB3nAUHSc_baloV3pY4QNCkZfDlN92cIdvk_437iwHVMWyorKlPoQFzQ4Pf3UuMqBV2y0oojEdKYrwakws2vevsA7AFkpcngdCXArYekBmPBgbs/s640/blogger-image-944442270.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I really wanted to get this right, so I tried-tried again.</div>
I traced the important lines of the face, I wanted to get the outlines right because it's really hard to draw children and the technique i really wanted to practice was using skin colors.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbjvu6PBwnBlYt9chZSs4S1a2i6u2uPUyQJT7N5tUsVqwjL10OPOOzKDYiKhmE9nYbnd861zYBdTTKE6hCPsxoq6o3ThUntND5tYNhG4X1djINeW0nrUXPlmlM7c0Z_qqMJO4GGjPfkvk/s640/blogger-image-713981784.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbjvu6PBwnBlYt9chZSs4S1a2i6u2uPUyQJT7N5tUsVqwjL10OPOOzKDYiKhmE9nYbnd861zYBdTTKE6hCPsxoq6o3ThUntND5tYNhG4X1djINeW0nrUXPlmlM7c0Z_qqMJO4GGjPfkvk/s640/blogger-image-713981784.jpg" /></a></div>
I re-traced the lines with a white pencil and started using oranges and purples to bring out shadows and highlights. I layered yellows and browns and skin color pencils and did a lot better than the first time. I then did the hair, which was a lot easier for me since i've drawn hair many times before. This is the final project:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifnplaX3DGaIV54t46pMPT0goGT9FgyMn-lIUtD_s9V-eyRTfA5s86yxOaRl8Ik5Xn36KLdCUx-Dg3Nkjvjw8ZyZc_q7RUKVQ-s8agIb6xLARbz8x5Q1OXrW7fgv_at-MivYV7X9Zu28o/s640/blogger-image--252366744.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifnplaX3DGaIV54t46pMPT0goGT9FgyMn-lIUtD_s9V-eyRTfA5s86yxOaRl8Ik5Xn36KLdCUx-Dg3Nkjvjw8ZyZc_q7RUKVQ-s8agIb6xLARbz8x5Q1OXrW7fgv_at-MivYV7X9Zu28o/s640/blogger-image--252366744.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Much better, right? Overall, I'm really happy with the end result and glad I kept going after my frustrating first attempt at coloring skin. If I were to do it again I would color at more directions so that the texture wouldn't be so wood-like.But I'm still pretty pleased with this.</div>

My concentration is someone being so obsessed with something that it literally consumes their body and destroys them either mentally or physically. There are a lot of things that people can be obsessed with but not all of them translate easily into the whole "taking over the body" thing. I had already done food, animals, and dolls, but what else? Insects. This is my insect Lady. I started out with a sketch, I wanted her to sort of be skipping crazily with her new grasshopper leg...<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Yea...not so good. I wasn't really thrilled about my original sketch so when my teacher told us to do something inspired by steampunk, one of my favorite type of styles, I changed her design right away:</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
It took me a whole period to finish her design, but I'm really happy with the end sketch.</div>

I then practiced different ways to use the prisma colors with other media.</div>

My original plan was to use ink with the prismas to make the steam punk element stand out.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I then replicated my design on a large piece of paper and spent hours getting in the right colors. I couldn't bring myself to go over it in ink so I just darkened the background with watered down ink and blue and red prismas. Here is the end result:</div>

The picture does not do her justice but she is a great addition to my concentration family. She fits right in to my half-anime half-realistic style and I'm pretty proud of her.</div>

This semester we are really being pressed for time when it comes to projects so I decided to get something quick done. I decided to do a small portrait of my cat and started by taking a bunch of pictures of him.</div>

I really liked the last picture because of the detail in the fur that you could see even with my iphone camera. It was a really nice angle so I started to free hand the outline and used short strokes with prisma colors to do the hair. When I made my animal lady I had to use this technique multiple times for multiple animals so I was very used to drawing fur. Two hours later and...</div>

This is the result. I'm OK with the end project but I wish I had spent more time on it. if I were to do it again I would take more time to pay attention to detail and do it on a larger scale or with sharper pencils so I could make it more realistic. I would also probably use a different color paper because white isn't always the best when working with fur. But overall, it's a cute little project in my opinion.</div>

<div>
For our first project this semester we were told to do a project using prisma colors to show something that is see-through. I wasn't very excited about this project because we are normally left to our own devices when it comes to projects so having something that we had to do wasn't a very welcome change. I was very uninspired by the see-through concept, so I just ended up photographing stuff in my room. Swarovski crystals, a perfume bottle, bath balls in water, none of it really interested me visually... so I just took a empty vodka bottle and filled it with water colors and ink.</div>

This actually sort of worked for me.</div>
<div>
I took around 20 pictures but this is the one I liked the most, so I practiced drawing it in my sketchbook with watercolor prismas</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
My original sketches didn't really have enough dimension so I added regular prisma colors to help with that.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
After doing this I decided for my final to trace the original picture onto black paper, just because there were a lot of details I had missed in my sketches. This project took a really long time to color, and the highlights still weren't bright enough so I used a sharpie paint pen to make them brighter.</div>

<br />
Overall, I guess this project was ok, but not my favorite. My least favorite part is definitely the hand because the black paper made it hard to make a good skin tone. My favorite is probably the bottom of the bottle because it actually looks like the bottom in the original picture.</div>

I'm part Portuguese, my grandparents lived most of their life in portugal and my mother was born there, so of course I needed to see Portugal! To be honest...my first view of europe, Lisboa (Portugal's capital), was very disappointing. I had expected Europe to be drastically different than the US, which it really wasn't. A city is a city no matter where you go. I was hoping for a awesome vacation but after seeing the crowded and crazy city and my grandparents...lets say...older...house, I lost any excitement I had when it came to Portugal. That was until I saw Santa Cruz. The beach is 5 minutes away from my grandparent's vacation home so that was the first real place we visited. The water was gorgeous and the natural rock formation was surreal, it was the first thing that made me feel at home in Portugal. So this was my subject matter for my project.<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3uSB79jHGXB3ByPFYtFc9eVbt3t0-ojpaNcBtainvjW4o98BTkvpyrVWCZLa9ZBUzUrgDprDMLhn7pOAUEuj00lVdTb7o_s_laZtF_BXUzZIjximwCOnUut4yx2Pu1onoZZyPIbtsf_w/s640/blogger-image--508270784.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3uSB79jHGXB3ByPFYtFc9eVbt3t0-ojpaNcBtainvjW4o98BTkvpyrVWCZLa9ZBUzUrgDprDMLhn7pOAUEuj00lVdTb7o_s_laZtF_BXUzZIjximwCOnUut4yx2Pu1onoZZyPIbtsf_w/s640/blogger-image--508270784.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">We are required to make a water soluable oil painting for Art 4. The class started this project all at the same time though normally we are all on completely different things. When we first started practicing with the colors it was terrible. I made a muddy color that I hated and I was just not happy with the medium. It smells and takes forever to dry. But, I grew to not actually mind it. Beginning this project was daunting because of the medium but also because it was a landscape. Mrs Rossi (who uses this medium a lot) suggested I make a landscape which is why I did, but normally I hate landscapes. They require a large amount of detail and time and I am normally very uninterested in creating a landscape artwork. However, the medium allows you to create detail without spending too much time on it, so it was actually sort of enjoyable. I started my project by outlining my picture on canvas and putting a blue watered down acrylic as the base. I started on the sky and big rock first:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHaZy9DuTE-2eroazi98RV8dOCTkAQPx5nK8qpNCmQl-LdszDJ4X4lIY4xA6g4BSYEIT6GllrWjlYRUFa7u4HJ8GxoASBbSl2iTF_DYx00dwItmFCvRPBj8-te7kHLB4wycXgD8A-9brg/s640/blogger-image-761343789.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHaZy9DuTE-2eroazi98RV8dOCTkAQPx5nK8qpNCmQl-LdszDJ4X4lIY4xA6g4BSYEIT6GllrWjlYRUFa7u4HJ8GxoASBbSl2iTF_DYx00dwItmFCvRPBj8-te7kHLB4wycXgD8A-9brg/s640/blogger-image-761343789.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Mrs Rossi told me to use the medium value first before doing highlights and shadows, a technique that does work better than whatever I was doing. She had no friends but lots and lots of dolls. She was dearly obsessed with those things. In her own private world in her own little head she would be the doll's queen. She had a grand castle on the top of a tall hill and a beautiful tree and of corse all her subjects, her dolls. Tea time was at noon on the dot and never a moment later and there was a ball every midnight where everyone wore pretty dresses. Dress-up started at four before dinner, there were fairies and doctors and mermaids...but no one could dress as a princess...except, of course, Emelie.<div>But one day something changed in Emelie that no one could explain, she started being mean to all her dolls, but one doll got it worst of all. It was a Barba Doll that she had just gotten for her Birthday, she had loved everything about her...well, except for one thing. The Barba wore a pretty pink crown that couldn't be removed...Emelie got mad and screamed "I'm the princess! NOT you!" She threw a fuss that rang out so great that her skin began to crack, for it was now made of porcelain. Her obsession morphed her body and mind and it was only a matter of time before doll heads started forming out of her morphed body. Her heart turned gray and so did her world. Her once bright kingdom now a dark empire. She rules with an iron fist, destroying all the subjects she once held dear, in fear that they will rise against her throne. Her scepter is now the headless Barbra and her cape is adorned with the heads of her victims. No heads means no doll can ever wear a crown again. Only Emelie can dress as princess...</div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH9K1l-i3rMzVqCxRF60FMXsX8FqFXFQ5CrkZ93P26Za1YhE93cIzXftf3ifS7yf6Y-u69HzvTWGCW7KtwlghizyZ0_0SGfSuZj16_ACZvMcdkWHvtxbu4Z65MV9qO6tpb87Ls5zKAJL4/s640/blogger-image--1206659784.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH9K1l-i3rMzVqCxRF60FMXsX8FqFXFQ5CrkZ93P26Za1YhE93cIzXftf3ifS7yf6Y-u69HzvTWGCW7KtwlghizyZ0_0SGfSuZj16_ACZvMcdkWHvtxbu4Z65MV9qO6tpb87Ls5zKAJL4/s640/blogger-image--1206659784.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Hope you liked my story, this is Emelie, my doll queen. I started her as part of my concentration. I started by sketching her out:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVUfsrr0iMGH_6xOprUXpSdjULbAmJt3SyQpGHIWuFkWryKpC8v9dv4t8rvLNGpVkarE6XciwJVjizBZBoOBPM1WKwPcydKV9ESpIgpt7q8-2Z_8T5yghX-ZVxrVqyv0rHHz1rFLkX-d4/s640/blogger-image-236799412.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVUfsrr0iMGH_6xOprUXpSdjULbAmJt3SyQpGHIWuFkWryKpC8v9dv4t8rvLNGpVkarE6XciwJVjizBZBoOBPM1WKwPcydKV9ESpIgpt7q8-2Z_8T5yghX-ZVxrVqyv0rHHz1rFLkX-d4/s640/blogger-image-236799412.jpg"></a></div>I really liked her look and how creepy she was so I started right away.</div><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Like my other concentration pieces, I wanted her to be drawn on a huge piece of paper. This proved to be the wrong corse of action:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgr4YF76UeAm0FUXbX6lQa4YYGCfZgPPszrk2p8UzWNzxXFaxBc-HCBh8vFJqXz1DaeYT2KITWMnYsOvyOsCrxIgoYPAPENZryJyEFqC3uoJwVKhOzCr4whFaPl4gs8AijTNV7hkt_QdgI/s640/blogger-image--1068107794.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgr4YF76UeAm0FUXbX6lQa4YYGCfZgPPszrk2p8UzWNzxXFaxBc-HCBh8vFJqXz1DaeYT2KITWMnYsOvyOsCrxIgoYPAPENZryJyEFqC3uoJwVKhOzCr4whFaPl4gs8AijTNV7hkt_QdgI/s640/blogger-image--1068107794.jpg"></a></div><br></div>Her proportions were extremely off and her line work was not the best. She needed to be thinner to look more creepy so I restarted on a smaller paper. This worked a lot better and a lot faster. I drew the whole thing out and outlined it in the span of one class period and it only took one period to shade. I thought I was done...but apparently wasn't.</div><div><br></div><div>A lot of my art has no background and if it does it's normally just a color or shadow. I have never liked drawing backgrounds in my art because it takes focus away from the character, especially when poorly done. I don't normally create landscapes, it's just not my thing; so I'm not too good at creating backgrounds. But I guess I'd gotten sway with one too many background-less pieces... so when I asked Mrs Rossi what the piece still needed...of course it was a background.</div><div><br></div><div>My first thought was to make a room full of doll boxes, but that was too busy. Then I thought about the minimal, which was making dolls bow down to her...but thought it wouldn't look right. Ultimately... I went for a simple background. I drew out a large and creepy tree and then a sort of mountain landscape. She's a queen so she needed a castle and of course...dead subjects. So I started on this idea:</div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYvPp-bLvU7-alcg09yNAYs51FCAWj8MTX86yDmockwxPyNbqex9yMQLOTEtIsQksrRyiC9abn8H6w0Z0OfVdREhicTL_eI-8iyd0vFNIMDjDn8PtpSflbsHt_KXnSXb6cgBsrevg9xro/s640/blogger-image-1383964625.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYvPp-bLvU7-alcg09yNAYs51FCAWj8MTX86yDmockwxPyNbqex9yMQLOTEtIsQksrRyiC9abn8H6w0Z0OfVdREhicTL_eI-8iyd0vFNIMDjDn8PtpSflbsHt_KXnSXb6cgBsrevg9xro/s640/blogger-image-1383964625.jpg"></a></div>When I started shading I knew I wanted dark values but I needed more control than ink or watercolor. But.. I didn't want to use just pen either because it is very tedious and wouldn't look right anyways. I once saw someone use pen and pencil together in a video, so decided to go with that. I used different pencils for the darks and lights and used a black colored pencil for the harsh darks. </div><div>I then worked on the gradation of values in the background and worked in minor lines and details. It actually turned out pretty good. simple enough that it didn't take away entirely from Emelie but complex enough to make it an actual background. I outlined the main figures in pen to emphasize them and my project was complete. Here she is:</div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuGz16RNRKXKXRAm6p1hFUZhZGucFopLCFf25v5iol2ehjsze0FqFVK0D217XNNaCk_TGsm5uFWSE4z6PCns2MHn2Hn8ZBzxIvw2aDiuPQc6yDRTkwt-osGKIsLnDkC5CtBh8Tk1fA7q8/s640/blogger-image-238457029.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuGz16RNRKXKXRAm6p1hFUZhZGucFopLCFf25v5iol2ehjsze0FqFVK0D217XNNaCk_TGsm5uFWSE4z6PCns2MHn2Hn8ZBzxIvw2aDiuPQc6yDRTkwt-osGKIsLnDkC5CtBh8Tk1fA7q8/s640/blogger-image-238457029.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgRxZeR6gBcC-jpOwxkfzqf4IZcJDLxnb2uaroQYg1JJEov-npmihRPnH8S5DnN8J9xNoqgKsHEb0raLaHVYqC-G0sMhMb2SrCJtRaJMJ06LOnWNyNdwljJ_UoQxJe2VXdJQC2GdcusXU/s640/blogger-image--574829191.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgRxZeR6gBcC-jpOwxkfzqf4IZcJDLxnb2uaroQYg1JJEov-npmihRPnH8S5DnN8J9xNoqgKsHEb0raLaHVYqC-G0sMhMb2SrCJtRaJMJ06LOnWNyNdwljJ_UoQxJe2VXdJQC2GdcusXU/s640/blogger-image--574829191.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> My Doll Queen</div></div><br></div><br></div>KateBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10948163693845275345noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3519124674691433058.post-54234863786339442142013-12-05T08:59:00.001-08:002013-12-05T09:54:46.887-08:00Project 8: My Animal Lady<div>When I started this project I had been really frustrated with my recent art. The portrait I had made of Santiago wasn't looking right and the animation I had tried to do was taking forever and not looking too good. I also had this frustration in sculpture class so instead of working on our project at the time I started sketching. I came up with the idea of a lady who is so obsessed with animals that it consumed her... </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5bDhJLeS94Pga6YNnApim0wR_GGtJ5fP0sfkjsyyxt97xscuQWToejZQdWXmqcyP-JGgtsz-rchovgh3ADVT_-LcyxtoQrlG0QDX5IYnUnq9JlbrEGYhD0DSyOawn3AX3Wi3xD0ebWQ4/s640/blogger-image--1739551778.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5bDhJLeS94Pga6YNnApim0wR_GGtJ5fP0sfkjsyyxt97xscuQWToejZQdWXmqcyP-JGgtsz-rchovgh3ADVT_-LcyxtoQrlG0QDX5IYnUnq9JlbrEGYhD0DSyOawn3AX3Wi3xD0ebWQ4/s640/blogger-image--1739551778.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">I was so happy with the idea that I took a large piece of paper home to work on it. I ended up going to a small trail in my neighborhood, sitting in the leaves and drawing her for a hour or two. The idea of a obsession literally taking over the body really inspired me. But I knew I wasn't done yet. I was really happy with the outline but I knew it needed color. I never really use colored pencils in my work but wanted the detail they create so I chose that as my medium. The drawing class that goes on at the same time as Art 4 had just recently completed animal works using prisma colors, so I asked one of them how she had used the prisma colors to make the illusion of fur. The best advice I got from this was to look at the direction of the hairs, this really helped my realism. I practiced this technique A LOT before starting and then began on my final. <div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPXDhJVqm4Vk416Nu84OePuCzowVuMm3Q8sbw_jbWhT1SGUdtetYBrNF4bxYOdN8A3M0bqM4xoyBm4ojtfSjcYt5r4IC_Af0nYfamSnt9PuVj7UJIGPekWAfcPwL6ZH4jzjzcy4C8d63I/s640/blogger-image-148628070.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPXDhJVqm4Vk416Nu84OePuCzowVuMm3Q8sbw_jbWhT1SGUdtetYBrNF4bxYOdN8A3M0bqM4xoyBm4ojtfSjcYt5r4IC_Af0nYfamSnt9PuVj7UJIGPekWAfcPwL6ZH4jzjzcy4C8d63I/s640/blogger-image-148628070.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">I was REALLY happy with my progress though this project took a lot of time and energy. I had to work on each animal individually <div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKKJQMpxjz2zoG3tCzOmUgrNkhYvTC7KS_d3PGxaPiJ42nclsGNsr5RHI_Ehm9FhoHLzy6fAF9u2ZEBk_luiZh1UmwmaYvWeKa29d_KIl0j5LdTIjEweF5O9VQdiCkyEa0E3BwbWPNDaI/s640/blogger-image--1657558461.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKKJQMpxjz2zoG3tCzOmUgrNkhYvTC7KS_d3PGxaPiJ42nclsGNsr5RHI_Ehm9FhoHLzy6fAF9u2ZEBk_luiZh1UmwmaYvWeKa29d_KIl0j5LdTIjEweF5O9VQdiCkyEa0E3BwbWPNDaI/s640/blogger-image--1657558461.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Afterwords I worked in skin tones using peach colors and brown. I worked in details like pink skin around her wounds and small blue veins in her skin. Originally I wasn't going to make veins but made a accidental blue mark. It worked to my advantage though, just added another detail.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJPh_PG6aADpIeSjg0sf6v4iOXSBwIFVtF9TMEZyv758JTRDlB19fqhSxV1UzcIcNmXeiU44zPCwMvWd9oay5X37fon4S9CSIPnFomKdo3c1Uue6ir7d3FTvUD3Mzy-FKAAjKAg3rd9oo/s640/blogger-image--611696994.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJPh_PG6aADpIeSjg0sf6v4iOXSBwIFVtF9TMEZyv758JTRDlB19fqhSxV1UzcIcNmXeiU44zPCwMvWd9oay5X37fon4S9CSIPnFomKdo3c1Uue6ir7d3FTvUD3Mzy-FKAAjKAg3rd9oo/s640/blogger-image--611696994.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">This is what she looks like now... I think I'll name her Tiere (animal in German). I'm not sure yet whether or not she is finished, I may or may not add a forest background. I have gotten comments where people have wanted me to put in a background and others wanted me to keep it this way so she is the main focus of the work. But for now I am really happy with what I accomplished.</div><br></div></div></div><br></div>KateBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10948163693845275345noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3519124674691433058.post-86154709585935375632013-12-03T09:47:00.001-08:002013-12-03T13:53:59.482-08:00Project 7: food color water colorSo this project started out as a portrait of my boyfriend using hashtags and at symbols. I thought this was a cool idea and practiced it in my sketchbook: <div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfgMOafJdKNJD7eo4dQO9zEUUYZsIyeRC8JPpbazD8O9UphyphenhyphenIO6hWhMpFdxrR9ZF1UCmG_dA-ZmjORj9-7JweUm3vLKopCmSAh2cmfSdfxq6UKuFVCt8C7XribLIN6mNKXm-bZpbG1slk/s640/blogger-image--255536047.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfgMOafJdKNJD7eo4dQO9zEUUYZsIyeRC8JPpbazD8O9UphyphenhyphenIO6hWhMpFdxrR9ZF1UCmG_dA-ZmjORj9-7JweUm3vLKopCmSAh2cmfSdfxq6UKuFVCt8C7XribLIN6mNKXm-bZpbG1slk/s640/blogger-image--255536047.jpg"></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfgMOafJdKNJD7eo4dQO9zEUUYZsIyeRC8JPpbazD8O9UphyphenhyphenIO6hWhMpFdxrR9ZF1UCmG_dA-ZmjORj9-7JweUm3vLKopCmSAh2cmfSdfxq6UKuFVCt8C7XribLIN6mNKXm-bZpbG1slk/s640/blogger-image--255536047.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRqTBgJXzrt0yUwmJUeSo-zqiwpdpuspjea1ogs92GnmRhQ57SUI3kIFw6P1oD8xwBRyV9EBIrE7yTBa6Rd0qzXbx9ZfUSNRrzpshhJox-gVKLDP6Tw60e9JQEY0GSzRbR49bqADSfwZk/s640/blogger-image--1126955535.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRqTBgJXzrt0yUwmJUeSo-zqiwpdpuspjea1ogs92GnmRhQ57SUI3kIFw6P1oD8xwBRyV9EBIrE7yTBa6Rd0qzXbx9ZfUSNRrzpshhJox-gVKLDP6Tw60e9JQEY0GSzRbR49bqADSfwZk/s640/blogger-image--1126955535.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">I got the idea cause I drew him for a homework assignment:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1sWSV74sFS5TRi_RC9T4CWbqlag_A93wKG364ZtrPTJlrViWkKEBXFq6V1JCMRAXEhZCiAd-iRjClecMhGVsJdp6-qCjFvHiZe7Tx9samvtwQXzhcjnox4KWd2FqDb1cZn9d2fnEMtdA/s640/blogger-image--1207557277.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1sWSV74sFS5TRi_RC9T4CWbqlag_A93wKG364ZtrPTJlrViWkKEBXFq6V1JCMRAXEhZCiAd-iRjClecMhGVsJdp6-qCjFvHiZe7Tx9samvtwQXzhcjnox4KWd2FqDb1cZn9d2fnEMtdA/s640/blogger-image--1207557277.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">But I wanted to try and draw him with a different kind of mark, hence the # and @. But in the process of making the final I rushed because I wanted to get it done but it ended up looking sloppy. I tried cutting parts of it and putting cuts of paper on and using numbers and signs to make it more interesting...it didn't work. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">But just as I was about to give up on this project, he got me flowers as a first month anniversary thing <div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBKrHych900sMKxZZ6XG-Qx2BEh_xkHZttCjITXGZ11c_6JNjaHnUrBY-p7xZ22dECpeWPs3aGDKMAtSePBF1OvouQgw2JvTRYtDALm89xuirb6VyutjzIw1RCEZ4qVPwdmola00CjRjs/s640/blogger-image--630454116.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBKrHych900sMKxZZ6XG-Qx2BEh_xkHZttCjITXGZ11c_6JNjaHnUrBY-p7xZ22dECpeWPs3aGDKMAtSePBF1OvouQgw2JvTRYtDALm89xuirb6VyutjzIw1RCEZ4qVPwdmola00CjRjs/s640/blogger-image--630454116.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">I was inspired to draw the flowers and decided to do it over top of the portrait. I cut up some extra paper and glued it to the top of the portrait, only leaving a little of the original showing. I then drew the flowers on top of it. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">A while back I discovered that if you mix food color and water you can use the mixture like watercolors. I used this method to paint over top the flower. If you try and do this yourself just make sure you use enough water or the surface will get sticky. The hardest part about using this medium is layering the colors. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Here is the final project:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIlvelkUvR2VfRfokRz274Fbpu-GeV0g8l10PHkC39U0si4tiEoyGmXrmVbSvqO4CMZDYJkVGx85ExaZLFFgR8ysrjlJhWicx0fwP1ROv8hJoPDw9CRvsrbAR8ZVelJFAR74lHdYzHLyk/s640/blogger-image--994665878.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIlvelkUvR2VfRfokRz274Fbpu-GeV0g8l10PHkC39U0si4tiEoyGmXrmVbSvqO4CMZDYJkVGx85ExaZLFFgR8ysrjlJhWicx0fwP1ROv8hJoPDw9CRvsrbAR8ZVelJFAR74lHdYzHLyk/s640/blogger-image--994665878.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh99vB3t_6u5dhzLW-kQyKRHEVRSc3tvB0xlO8XUTlj9dMCNL6cOHUK8l1gHV6XUDHIzXzdfliVZm0qlvPg7XW1u_jDkdnsvyIkgDZq0pq3-hrZrOV3VPtcK0sz8jR-mJ4sWBLJzZjVMzk/s640/blogger-image-931619564.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh99vB3t_6u5dhzLW-kQyKRHEVRSc3tvB0xlO8XUTlj9dMCNL6cOHUK8l1gHV6XUDHIzXzdfliVZm0qlvPg7XW1u_jDkdnsvyIkgDZq0pq3-hrZrOV3VPtcK0sz8jR-mJ4sWBLJzZjVMzk/s640/blogger-image-931619564.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjadbu5a045RrjIF5wZz3NkQin-8dTmGQIKXSO_RK6XD1AL8HMcoUo1Sqti2kvnfjvYmt-1G2uqexe2PC4Flq9hVdHz-dla6xvpEGt3mqyV8urr-JbtA7EPg2lGyx71uYrFw9Gb87QbPnA/s640/blogger-image-1168148118.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjadbu5a045RrjIF5wZz3NkQin-8dTmGQIKXSO_RK6XD1AL8HMcoUo1Sqti2kvnfjvYmt-1G2uqexe2PC4Flq9hVdHz-dla6xvpEGt3mqyV8urr-JbtA7EPg2lGyx71uYrFw9Gb87QbPnA/s640/blogger-image-1168148118.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Overall I'm really happy with the end project, especially because it took less time than a lot of others. </div><br></div><br></div><br></div></div><br></div></div><br></div>KateBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10948163693845275345noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3519124674691433058.post-80260553278038904232013-12-03T09:26:00.001-08:002013-12-03T09:26:19.279-08:00Project 6: Layer it On<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">So my art 4 class is in the same room as the drawing class and they were doing collage using tissue papers and cut-outs from things like magazines. </div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZS6VCUWVxYzCZSHI_Ym1OZcxc9Vfsf0UxKSwKgjsdNSnUtJA_ItTTMIBJy-duwp_eSMmjtcgx61E30iBbYplAOjZd4T_NfSEg2aUlohv0vaPg-UiNCUuWAagNZoFyfTUSx21SWeHaLXc/s640/blogger-image-2057211876.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZS6VCUWVxYzCZSHI_Ym1OZcxc9Vfsf0UxKSwKgjsdNSnUtJA_ItTTMIBJy-duwp_eSMmjtcgx61E30iBbYplAOjZd4T_NfSEg2aUlohv0vaPg-UiNCUuWAagNZoFyfTUSx21SWeHaLXc/s640/blogger-image-2057211876.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">We were asked to participate in this too, creating a collage on two pages in our sketchbook. When wetted the tissue paper leaves color on the surface of the paper or magazine, it leaves a really cool effect. So I made another collage that fit perfectly into one of the topics we could use, layer it on.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">So I started out by making a mistake: choosing a bigish piece of paper which makes it really hard to cover the whole surface. But I did it anyways. I first cut out pictures I liked from magazines and glued them to the paper. I planned out the placement of some of the pictures but you cant plan too much because you have to take off all the pictures when you glue them down. So Yea... Not much planning. Then I took tissues and wetted them so the color would drain onto the page. I added some more pictures on top of the colors to help them stand out a bit but ended up covering those with color too. I finished it with a clear medium which makes it shiny and keeps the corners of the pictures from lifting up. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Here's the final product:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPFVOayRyIsUol_CTo97tRJNRJTTbwmBNVTGF1XyXC7HWxBjlvMPQegf9EkySYaObOBl3KLUOi_oajPg_hfjA1AJYyaFoqoMo73U0hfAuWvUno8dDD_fMpKAoBqqndg_zEOzGzaUTrxm0/s640/blogger-image--2141114148.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPFVOayRyIsUol_CTo97tRJNRJTTbwmBNVTGF1XyXC7HWxBjlvMPQegf9EkySYaObOBl3KLUOi_oajPg_hfjA1AJYyaFoqoMo73U0hfAuWvUno8dDD_fMpKAoBqqndg_zEOzGzaUTrxm0/s640/blogger-image--2141114148.jpg"></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPFVOayRyIsUol_CTo97tRJNRJTTbwmBNVTGF1XyXC7HWxBjlvMPQegf9EkySYaObOBl3KLUOi_oajPg_hfjA1AJYyaFoqoMo73U0hfAuWvUno8dDD_fMpKAoBqqndg_zEOzGzaUTrxm0/s640/blogger-image--2141114148.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHgikpEDj-XqbahHE2HZyBjggJV_uXCte6xbMhEX8Fe8_cnUVv97ntZLoRzksR77DwGwB7lEj1hlkbG-dXu2pfnhLCU2T3KnaJuODtddgKiLIcjacAfpF6Wx1Jsw2fX7jOtNcBnmqfZ3E/s640/blogger-image--1921776106.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHgikpEDj-XqbahHE2HZyBjggJV_uXCte6xbMhEX8Fe8_cnUVv97ntZLoRzksR77DwGwB7lEj1hlkbG-dXu2pfnhLCU2T3KnaJuODtddgKiLIcjacAfpF6Wx1Jsw2fX7jOtNcBnmqfZ3E/s640/blogger-image--1921776106.jpg"></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXUpsxGvVGpm7h1bRWsjPMj8qf9XrwoeXBwiYIcV_VLWxBvgoSmEJ3suqx4upRvBt3-N3uV-1LY2GIHDVEBDM68i2csbRcsmZTpZmWpZWc9sXAGci4PRzfqAsp-qG7-n2mdyXI1uIzcRM/s640/blogger-image-798235410.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXUpsxGvVGpm7h1bRWsjPMj8qf9XrwoeXBwiYIcV_VLWxBvgoSmEJ3suqx4upRvBt3-N3uV-1LY2GIHDVEBDM68i2csbRcsmZTpZmWpZWc9sXAGci4PRzfqAsp-qG7-n2mdyXI1uIzcRM/s640/blogger-image-798235410.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Overall I'm very happy with it, it's cool and vibrant and colorful. Mrs Rossi gave me the idea to do multiple prints with different mustaches. I chose to do the prints in complementary colors. I started by making a large print and used watercolor <div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWTJLaR9jotN7eV2-XI-53KyUZ6J6Zat3s-xl3gED-UXntu5Gw_QLhohCUS_yBuqqnkwihrdFWTMNylOHpADb7uRrXTMwbEjIkEdhRO86Rb7o-9t3fBTdIAZOEw2vhpLuZR1fWX1eyH3E/s640/blogger-image-1473161330.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWTJLaR9jotN7eV2-XI-53KyUZ6J6Zat3s-xl3gED-UXntu5Gw_QLhohCUS_yBuqqnkwihrdFWTMNylOHpADb7uRrXTMwbEjIkEdhRO86Rb7o-9t3fBTdIAZOEw2vhpLuZR1fWX1eyH3E/s640/blogger-image-1473161330.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">But Mrs Rossi asked me to use acrylic instead and to make smaller prints. I took my original image and scanned it into the computer, I then shrunk it and outlined it onto tracing paper. I redid my practice in acrylic and got this:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVDDRhjKxIczl_7JBjii5dbGbKCM8GE74fsQ8Nkz0e8D4PnckbsrX6EvQxUZF-ExBFfkmGBsZ4NGTqJCq0MPCL0XY-dCGzanCPTKEad75qEI_V8DWQy2wox7nVng1QrPS9TF0On_IVcDM/s640/blogger-image-1880886922.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVDDRhjKxIczl_7JBjii5dbGbKCM8GE74fsQ8Nkz0e8D4PnckbsrX6EvQxUZF-ExBFfkmGBsZ4NGTqJCq0MPCL0XY-dCGzanCPTKEad75qEI_V8DWQy2wox7nVng1QrPS9TF0On_IVcDM/s640/blogger-image-1880886922.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">I was pleased with the more vibrant colors and so I cut out 9 squares of paper (I wanted to make a square and groups of 3) and traced each one individually with the tracing paper. I then retraced with sharpie. I then painted each in 3 different color schemes (a separate 4th later) but ended up messing up 3 of them (you should always make extra sheets...) one of them I messed up by making her face green... Always check ALL of your color schemes BEFORE doing on your final >~<. Unfortunately... The darker colors completely whipped out my lines and I had to retrace with a sharpie marker which is REALLY hard to do cause it fades... But managed it pretty well. Here is the final:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkRenscQczaywAb3mP85MpEq02BgzEs62MApnHwYdLz4JfQSvSnfzDErSbzhBR8BISNoAofgvpGu23zZkAb36URr5SawaVjmCHXlRRC6Hj4vz8J3Avoj1eeB-QawTzdDGbShCqiDuvBVw/s640/blogger-image--1656401158.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkRenscQczaywAb3mP85MpEq02BgzEs62MApnHwYdLz4JfQSvSnfzDErSbzhBR8BISNoAofgvpGu23zZkAb36URr5SawaVjmCHXlRRC6Hj4vz8J3Avoj1eeB-QawTzdDGbShCqiDuvBVw/s640/blogger-image--1656401158.jpg"></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkRenscQczaywAb3mP85MpEq02BgzEs62MApnHwYdLz4JfQSvSnfzDErSbzhBR8BISNoAofgvpGu23zZkAb36URr5SawaVjmCHXlRRC6Hj4vz8J3Avoj1eeB-QawTzdDGbShCqiDuvBVw/s640/blogger-image--1656401158.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCHYQW1bgc0QdWTLJQXLVKzTNsnir3RBRHmHB7MIw1kYcqLgLMY7WWcxQaiHH7YdjA9CloWFXUFXmNag0wzK-8MOQgudJHsr1p8fDG-YBx6oW9U3DbHXAk4DpFKIc5sBFjVNGdcVH-YBw/s640/blogger-image-1586788874.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCHYQW1bgc0QdWTLJQXLVKzTNsnir3RBRHmHB7MIw1kYcqLgLMY7WWcxQaiHH7YdjA9CloWFXUFXmNag0wzK-8MOQgudJHsr1p8fDG-YBx6oW9U3DbHXAk4DpFKIc5sBFjVNGdcVH-YBw/s640/blogger-image-1586788874.jpg"></a></div></div><br></div><br></div>KateBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10948163693845275345noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3519124674691433058.post-71793828762871236262013-10-08T09:31:00.001-07:002013-10-08T09:31:18.347-07:00Sketchbook Assignment<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

We were given the assignment to take a 3D object and make it into a 2D art piece. I took a leaf and some flowers and a twig and turned it into a girl with a leaf umbrella walking past a tree in the rain. I think it looks pretty cute.... I used two different sharpies to make the outline and then used pencil to shade.</div>

Unlike my other art pieces thus far, this one doesn't really have much meaning. I mean, I'm sure you could make up something like "the people are trapped or consumed by the phone" or something artsy like that, but really...I just wanted to draw people in a phone. I did a lot of preplanning for this... took pictures, gathered references, put them in my sketchbook, made multiple sketches... but I wasn't really inspired by it and had to force myself to do it.<br />

I really didn't want to do this project, but I had to get a fourth project done and ended up doing it all at home on one of the days I didn't have work. (I work a lot =.=' unfortunately.) I drew it all in pencil on a small canvas I had lying around and then traced everything in red. I then used prismacolors to color the sketch in and drew over the lines a second time with a black Bic permanent marker. because the surface was textured, the pencil and prismacolor got everywhere, it was really annoying. Once I got to school I decided to take it a step further and used water to blend out the prismacolor (mine are water-soluble). I added some shadow and ended up with this:</div>

I had a lot of ideas down in my sketchbook but none of them seemed to interest me. This project actually started out with a homework assignment.<br>
I chose the theme "Memories, Dreams, and Fears" and made a work to represent my memories of being bullied as a child and my fear of my frizzy hair. The girl represents my fear and what I was bullied for, my frizzy hair (which had caused people to call me ugly among numerous other things). The strings that were holding her were words that represented what I was called and what I thought about myself; words like ugly, insecure, fat, etc. My teacher, Mrs Rossi, told me that I should do something with this idea, so I took it and ran with it.<br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtlxFKEhLZeAcl8oGhZWGmmNQhkja6BY2iThjqmWfT4FQ1HK59Kj8D1nhRJi8Z_pCO8fnMZuGmfwz8k7H1cPilvV40Y7ptEPU-J_sPzCdDJTEdo0_9z1TL8QLvAtsNg71R3DsE8PlVJ-0/s1600/IMG_0330.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtlxFKEhLZeAcl8oGhZWGmmNQhkja6BY2iThjqmWfT4FQ1HK59Kj8D1nhRJi8Z_pCO8fnMZuGmfwz8k7H1cPilvV40Y7ptEPU-J_sPzCdDJTEdo0_9z1TL8QLvAtsNg71R3DsE8PlVJ-0/s320/IMG_0330.jpg" width="239"></a></div>
I Started out by drawing the girl a little bigger on a sheet of my notebook and then cutting her out. I practiced making words out of some silver wire that I had. I Then thought about making a border with faces that looked like they're laughing and drew it in my sketchbook.<br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDWXMXL5v-1IQ-YtymxcstGC86V-Y2aI5ejrEGSwMO1ZhiOrzbSwCCv8DGYhFOvD3b2E6aekVRFAdiW8ixY2gnuKdBmgNyXf9st1nH4_FrGLBIXteqCdM1CANlb3x7VKBiZbYaqbmhld8/s1600/IMG_0331.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfikgkbtRcOUFysiacRosOuB3YuPAin-4oGX-MAhD2wqgTAL1Nc43MVSyYVziKdlFz4XLa4SSEKUtht7Nj1NG8xn_DwL5kb9kbc0WxmqyRwOrgZ81tEOpioaQoH8A5JfAmKc99NtasFKc/s1600/IMG_0331.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfikgkbtRcOUFysiacRosOuB3YuPAin-4oGX-MAhD2wqgTAL1Nc43MVSyYVziKdlFz4XLa4SSEKUtht7Nj1NG8xn_DwL5kb9kbc0WxmqyRwOrgZ81tEOpioaQoH8A5JfAmKc99NtasFKc/s320/IMG_0331.jpg" width="320"></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I had cut out the border in black poster-board paper and attached the girl and the wires, but I wasn't really happy with it. It could go farther. After talking with another art teacher, Mr. Sands, he suggested that we make a box or frame to put it in. He made me a box for it out of some spare wood (a crooked box...but better than I could do) and I painted it black. I then wrote out words in a cut out of white poster-board which spoke about bullying. I didn't really plan these words, just let my mind sort of barf them out. After gluing everything together with rubber cement, I asked my classmates to write words that they had been bullied with as a interactive part of my piece.<br>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
The second project I decided to do was skeletons using ink. My concept was that a overpowering force was controlling beings even after death. I made the controlling persona Hitler, this idea came to me because we were learning about Nazi propaganda techniques in speeches in English class. I started drawing my favorite idea and made five thumbnails. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4M762a-wHtqtdZ5jSOdlEfoymQgnREZ0XD5dcys59-12WQABlIf4FYJFMD4uuuOFUu3uSsDls6WFk3-j1eDCMs5bRUGjYYx_2j0z1MdI5PEQD79L2dZGpickK5GPIV-f4mtepHSgHm7Q/s640/blogger-image-614455556.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4M762a-wHtqtdZ5jSOdlEfoymQgnREZ0XD5dcys59-12WQABlIf4FYJFMD4uuuOFUu3uSsDls6WFk3-j1eDCMs5bRUGjYYx_2j0z1MdI5PEQD79L2dZGpickK5GPIV-f4mtepHSgHm7Q/s640/blogger-image-614455556.jpg"></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I then made a final sketch of my favorite thumbnail, I liked the skeleton with the tilted head the most. I was originally going to redraw some parts and have them attached apart from the rest of the picture...but decided against it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8M16-k4rPGJsPZH9ZJHFa_2bIFBaFWiSY3bRNSSsxrpymPpHTJUJQmI1kE-Kq1guAmM7rpBdE1ObOQpI_sKsrqWkNAFat4gD04sG-RDWvBP2ueYd4QyflOpA9-eXX9Ow3_nWmb_JzztE/s640/blogger-image-453776220.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8M16-k4rPGJsPZH9ZJHFa_2bIFBaFWiSY3bRNSSsxrpymPpHTJUJQmI1kE-Kq1guAmM7rpBdE1ObOQpI_sKsrqWkNAFat4gD04sG-RDWvBP2ueYd4QyflOpA9-eXX9Ow3_nWmb_JzztE/s640/blogger-image-453776220.jpg"></a></div>
I then practiced using ink to shade.<br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGoNB6B8sD6ycQOLIhi4bMbT5y9QRSlFEH341WZXe4vZ9pPC0UuUZrKk0fEadma3QKf_1-wQWLQcA8r0TY6I_JI1iellzrr-Hv8hrUGZXJ8wCUX82dpC2Mt1pNH9NXf7OBUAEK1GAZ_uI/s640/blogger-image-1637864779.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGoNB6B8sD6ycQOLIhi4bMbT5y9QRSlFEH341WZXe4vZ9pPC0UuUZrKk0fEadma3QKf_1-wQWLQcA8r0TY6I_JI1iellzrr-Hv8hrUGZXJ8wCUX82dpC2Mt1pNH9NXf7OBUAEK1GAZ_uI/s640/blogger-image-1637864779.jpg"></a></div>
These were the references i used to make my sketch.<br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH7tBrvaTRISWvn3sVCPri9dcnwsalRvdRAas2q7mL8Smx2LHWI30ula1McXcQLIyb4p1yBWQ5VIPiZxu8SObL4mdCPrn01y6wCdl07MaiceLOpPliI-Bory9KOCDUp6w2wQYNOIdjRqA/s640/blogger-image--1951759132.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH7tBrvaTRISWvn3sVCPri9dcnwsalRvdRAas2q7mL8Smx2LHWI30ula1McXcQLIyb4p1yBWQ5VIPiZxu8SObL4mdCPrn01y6wCdl07MaiceLOpPliI-Bory9KOCDUp6w2wQYNOIdjRqA/s640/blogger-image--1951759132.jpg"></a></div>
This is my final practice with shading before I started.<br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiepjHLTQTiqEUNRPzUhXpKah1LJ2k5941iXoVcMWKNFrg2CsWBksnt-PvDVrgQHqDFoXil5cphijHoeqGmFUrVOAkSQcMyVUsgZBTb7-l_7K-RAhN_wDX7SeBpXWpITpck45H4gCn1Gts/s640/blogger-image-672257106.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiepjHLTQTiqEUNRPzUhXpKah1LJ2k5941iXoVcMWKNFrg2CsWBksnt-PvDVrgQHqDFoXil5cphijHoeqGmFUrVOAkSQcMyVUsgZBTb7-l_7K-RAhN_wDX7SeBpXWpITpck45H4gCn1Gts/s640/blogger-image-672257106.jpg"></a></div>
<br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I then drew the puppet on a large sheet of paper with a ink pen. I decided it wasn't complicated enough so I drew skulls along the bottom using a fake skull my class has as a reference. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUI3tOawY5jIhtHgFWlNc5zup4ZanGp5QgUyhB94uI0I6nWgxwDXsZwcwt6DbNq06H-E1KCFtGlirgyiVB54QiT_H6E07ew7ln6448MzZsjDe9OQ2P99kHwK-vfiUq0R6hPF_GIVnpUnw/s640/blogger-image-634780656.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUI3tOawY5jIhtHgFWlNc5zup4ZanGp5QgUyhB94uI0I6nWgxwDXsZwcwt6DbNq06H-E1KCFtGlirgyiVB54QiT_H6E07ew7ln6448MzZsjDe9OQ2P99kHwK-vfiUq0R6hPF_GIVnpUnw/s640/blogger-image-634780656.jpg"></a></div>
I shaded all of it, I wanted to go very dark with my values. I started making ink spots to add interest to the background.<br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyCSvZI4VY1T3NRRFPIYg2yv_90PNBoDCIxYM7vaaW6yV1rD-P8GGdNDf4MgmE-nxryeGd4z32uotgB0YOej2A9C1PUZXJ63JZQIrMwuEIOQ8JwhXL4N0S95knPufAMZtK6Ug0VE8ySAE/s640/blogger-image--836026326.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyCSvZI4VY1T3NRRFPIYg2yv_90PNBoDCIxYM7vaaW6yV1rD-P8GGdNDf4MgmE-nxryeGd4z32uotgB0YOej2A9C1PUZXJ63JZQIrMwuEIOQ8JwhXL4N0S95knPufAMZtK6Ug0VE8ySAE/s640/blogger-image--836026326.jpg"></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
This is my final project, overall I am very proud of it. I think it looks dark and cool and i think it has a complex underlying message. </div>

For my first Art four project I took inspiration from the theme "You are what you eat". </div>
<div>
I started out with the idea of a obese man made of the many types of junk food that we consume. As I redrew my idea in my sketchbook it took a new shape.</div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjg650gMyy3UHxFSWTM7qgeSx_DI9em4DpwCefX0LEKpUh-s69i88Bc6f7P-Ah1vxkWFh_uTp33yZS29JAg4ePARcFVp3UhdZtZDVWSEUWWk5wiHEfeooljOSL7abwBTKPxRkNq8VzTRyg/s640/blogger-image--1279932939.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjg650gMyy3UHxFSWTM7qgeSx_DI9em4DpwCefX0LEKpUh-s69i88Bc6f7P-Ah1vxkWFh_uTp33yZS29JAg4ePARcFVp3UhdZtZDVWSEUWWk5wiHEfeooljOSL7abwBTKPxRkNq8VzTRyg/s640/blogger-image--1279932939.jpg"></a></div>

<br></div>
<div>
The idea came to me to have him be so gluttonous that not only was he becoming the food he was eating, but he had lost sight of what was human and what was food and became consuming himself.</div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjG0U-rK3ZDMYmo1YtXz9itrdFg69nTaVHacr63otUVK8Hpi6NF8qFk0gXVIuFm2phBGJlWJxQVNGN-FxBsQqB8RmCs6WmEYq3XZp_0GRscitONfUtpSLsZi5X5VVzH9mFBPX_JPUTKcCM/s640/blogger-image--1198781923.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjG0U-rK3ZDMYmo1YtXz9itrdFg69nTaVHacr63otUVK8Hpi6NF8qFk0gXVIuFm2phBGJlWJxQVNGN-FxBsQqB8RmCs6WmEYq3XZp_0GRscitONfUtpSLsZi5X5VVzH9mFBPX_JPUTKcCM/s640/blogger-image--1198781923.jpg"></a></div>
<br></div>
<div>
After practicing with pen and ink and making my final draft, I choose to do my pen-and-ink on a large piece of paper. I decided to use cross-hatching in order to give the picture a more political-cartoon feel, and ended up with a art piece I am very proud of.<br>
